Move the outdoor part of your day
Look for cooler hours for a Lake Minneola walk or other outdoor plans, and shorten the outing when conditions call for it. Early morning is a planning option, not a guarantee of safe temperatures. Check the forecast and alerts again before leaving.
Make your afternoon an indoor one
Try a movie at Epic Theatres of Clermont or check Cooper Memorial Library’s hours and programs. These are activity suggestions, not designated emergency cooling centers. During extreme heat or an outage, use Lake County’s official updates to find any announced assistance.
Plan water, rest and a place to cool down
Drink water regularly, take breaks and reduce strenuous activity during hot conditions. Humidity, direct sun and exertion all matter; air temperature alone cannot tell you how an outing will feel. Never leave a child or pet in a parked car. Follow NWS heat guidance and any advice specific to your health.
Make lunch part of the break
Use ClermontRestaurant to choose a meal or ClermontCoffeeShop to find a café. Confirm air-conditioned indoor seating and current hours before you go. A cold drink can be part of a pleasant break, but it does not make strenuous outdoor activity safe in extreme heat.
Know when the outing needs to stop
If someone becomes unwell in the heat, stop the activity and get help. Confusion, collapse or other signs of possible heat stroke are an emergency: call 911 and begin cooling the person while help is on the way. Use official guidance to recognize heat illness and respond.
