KNOW WHAT YOU ARE READING

Where the weather comes from.

A forecast for Clermont

Forecasts use the National Weather Service point at 28.5494° N, 81.7729° W. The site discovers the current forecast grid through the NWS point service, and uses its hourly and day/night forecasts. Point-to-grid mapping is refreshed periodically. Forecasts describe expected conditions, not direct observations.

Observed conditions and area estimates

Without an additional provider, current conditions come from an available nearby NWS observation station. The station name, approximate distance and observation time appear beside the reading. The nearest station with a reasonably recent temperature is preferred. Conditions can vary between that station and Clermont.

If WeatherAPI.com is configured as the current-conditions provider, the page credits it and labels the reading as Clermont-area conditions. Weather data by WeatherAPI.com. Forecasts and official alert checks continue to use NWS.

Update times mean different things

The page checks for new data every five minutes while open. Shared weather responses may be cached for two minutes, with a short additional browser cache. A new request does not mean a new provider observation. The weather card shows observation time, and the forecast credits show its issue time. All displayed times use America/New_York, including daylight saving time.

Missing and older data

Missing values display a dash or an unavailable message, not zero. Observations older than 90 minutes are labeled as older readings. Forecast issue times older than six hours are flagged. If observations are unavailable but a current hourly forecast exists, the card explicitly identifies it as a forecast. Stale or failed alert checks are never treated as a verified all-clear.

Official alerts

Alerts are requested for the Clermont point using the NWS active-alert feed. They include the provider’s headline, area, timestamps and instructions. Check weather.gov and Lake County emergency information for authoritative updates. Weather and alert data can be delayed or interrupted.
