Watches, warnings & what the cone means

Clermont Weather · Published October 19, 2026 · Sponsored by DW&Co.

Understand watch and warning timing

A hurricane watch is generally issued 48 hours before the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds. A hurricane warning is generally issued 36 hours before that onset. Those timeframes help people prepare before conditions make preparations difficult; always read the actual advisory.

Clermont is inland, but storms still matter

Inland areas can experience damaging wind, heavy rain, flooding and tornadoes. Being outside the forecast cone does not mean being outside all hazards. Read the local forecast and alerts for your location along with National Hurricane Center updates.

Read the details, not just the color

Check the issuing agency, affected area, issue time, expiry and instructions. An alert for a wider county may not describe identical conditions at every address. If an alert feed is unavailable, use official sources directly; a missing feed is not an all-clear.

Follow local instructions

Lake County emergency information is the place to check local updates, assistance and official instructions. AlertLake offers local emergency notifications. This informational website is not a replacement for those notifications or emergency services.
